    In the state of Georgia, one out of every ten people is unemployed. If you are one of them, you probably want to stay in the beautiful state. The only thing is that you don’t have an income. You need to be able to meet your financial obligations as well as get a new job. The good news for you is that you don’t have to go it alone. The Georgia unemployment office, otherwise known as the Georgia Career Center, is available to help you.

    There are 53 Career Centers located in convenient places throughout Georgia. These centers are operated by the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) and offer assistance to people like yourself who are looking for work. There is even space in the centers for you to be tested and participate in interviews with prospective employers. Visit the GDOL website at www.dol.state.ga.us for a complete list of locations. These centers are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

    Get yourself started on the path to financial recovery by applying for unemployment benefits. The center has PCs that you can use to file your claims. If you plan on filing for your Georgia unemployment benefits at the center, make sure you bring everything you need. You’ll need your social security number and a separation letter or notice if your employer provided you one.
